About Us

Our Story

The Driveway, home of Ryan Borowicz Basketball, is where dreams are born, goals are set, and character is forged. It’s a place where hard work, perseverance, and overcoming adversity are ingrained in young athletes, teaching them to become the best versions of themselves on and off the court. Generation X parents remember honing their skills in their driveways without fancy uniforms or distant tournaments. They practiced with a boom box, dreaming of winning championships, starring in high school games, and playing against legends like Cheryl Miller, Dr. J, Magic, Larry, and Michael. The driveway was their arena, where dreams took flight.

Vision

To become the most valued basketball resource in Wisconsin by offering players and coaches unique skills training opportunities that develop their game, challenge their thinking, and transfer these skills to strong character qualities once the clock stops ticking and real life begins.

Mission

Influencing you to become the best version of yourself on and off the court.

Philosophy

Guiding principles

Old School Work Ethic. New School Methods.

This philosophy combines the timeless work ethic passed down through generations with innovative, modern training techniques. At The Driveway, we blend this culture with our state-of-the-art facility, eliminating excuses for not improving. Common hurdles like limited gym access, crowded spaces, and lack of practice time are overcome here. The Driveway provides the environment and tools for dedicated athletes to put in the hard work and grit needed to achieve their dreams. The Driveway in Hobart features three key areas: The Alley, The Basement, and The Tool Shed.

The Alley

Shooting Cages

‘The Alley,’ featuring 10 shooting cages (like batting cages for basketball), is equipped with The Gun 12K By Shoot-A-Way. These machines track every shot you take, providing real-time stats on your makes, misses, and shooting percentage. Your stats are added to our facility leaderboard, allowing you to compare your performance with other players. Each 30-minute session allows for 350-500 shots, helping you improve your skills efficiently.

The Basement

Vertimax Training & Connect 4

‘The Basement’ includes the Vertimax Training System, enhancing your jumping ability, first-step explosiveness, and lateral quickness. Used by top basketball players worldwide, it delivers immediate improvements in leaping ability, quickness, balance, and reaction time. The full-size Connect 4 Shooting Game also offers a fun challenge, combining basketball with the classic strategy game.

The Tool Shed

Laser 900 & Ball Handling Workouts

The ‘Tool Shed’ features two ball-handling workout tools: The Laser 900, with hundreds of drills and Xbox Kinect Technology to track your movements and progress, and a touchscreen video monitor loaded with ball-handling workouts. The Laser 900 challenges your handles and reaction times, forcing you to keep your head up and respond to visual stimuli.

"When I was a kid, practice wasn't something you did once you were good; it was what made you good. My dad grew up shooting baskets in the alley behind his house on a hoop attached to a telephone pole, and I spent my childhood working on my ball handling and footwork in the basement, having fun and playing games with friends."
