Tournament Information

Code of Conduct: High standards of conduct are expected at The Driveway. No swearing, dirty play, negative talk about officials or other players, or general laziness. You’re here to work hard and improve.

Rules of 3 v 3 v 3:

• No Coaching Allowed
• Any parents, spectators, or players that are rude towards officials will be asked to leave.
• Team running scores will be kept by a scorekeeper, but no individual points or fouls will be tracked.
• Running scores will be kept throughout the games played. Each team will play four 8-minute games. After the four games, the three teams with the most points will play in a championship game, and the other three teams will play a consolation game on another court.

Game Format:

• Full court 3 on 3, but the courts are 64′ instead of the normal 84′.
• If you score, you keep the ball. You can score up to 6 times in a row. On the 6th score, you get 3 extra points, and the defense takes over possession.
• Defense gains possession after a defensive rebound or steal. Once a defensive rebound or steal is secured, the team on offense is out and waiting for their next turn on defense.
• Fast-paced, requiring mental alertness.

Scoring Rules:

• Scoring by 2’s and 3’s, just like normal. If you score, grab the ball from the net and go the other way. No need to take it out of bounds or check it up.
• Non-shooting defensive foul: 1 point to the offense, retain possession.
Shooting foul: 2 points to the offense, retain possession. On a 3-pointer, 3 points.
• Offensive foul: 1 point to the defense, immediate possession.
• If a basket is made on a foul, the basket counts, plus 1 point, and retain possession.
• Technical fouls result in the player being out for the remainder of the game. A second technical on the same day results in the player being out for the rest of the day.
• No free throws are shot. There is no advantage to fouling, emphasizing clean defense with your feet.
• The waiting team on defense can only defend up to half-court. They cannot pick up full court.
• Substitutions are only allowed when your team is out or waiting on defense.
